USC's Gerrity Eligible For Competition

LOS ANGELES - USC senior guard Mike Gerrity was granted a Progress Towards Degree waiver by the NCAA today (Dec. 18) and he is immediately eligible for competition. The Trojans will host No. 9 Tennessee on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Galen Center in a 1:30 p.m. game.
Gerrity transferred to USC from Charlotte following the first semester of the 2008-09 season. In the 2007-08 season for the 49ers, Gerrity averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 26 games.
Gerrity began his career at Pepperdine and was named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman team for the 2005-06 season as well as being tabbed the WCC Freshman of the Year by CBSSportsline. He averaged 14.1 points and 3.4 assists in 21 games his freshman season. Gerrity scored in double figures in 17 of the 21 games for the Waves, with a career-high 25 vs. UC Irvine on Nov. 26, 2005. Gerrity played in one game for Pepperdine in the 2006-07 season before transferring to Charlotte.
He played his high school ball at Mater Dei and as a senior was named Cal-Hi Sports CIF State Division II Player of the Year and CIF Southern Section Player of the Year after averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 assists per game. Mater Dei compiled a 117-6 record in Gerrity's four years, winning three CIF Southern Division titles and one California state title.
