Gerrity Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

LOS ANGELES - USC senior guard Mike Gerrity was named Pac-10 Player of the Week today (Dec. 28) for the week of Dec. 21-27, it was announced by Commissioner Larry Scott.
Gerrity earned MVP honors at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Hi. (Dec. 22-25) as he helped lead USC to the title with wins over Western Michigan, Saint Mary's and No. 27/No. 20 UNLV. He averaged 15.7 points, 2.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in the three games, while hitting 62.1 percent of his shots (18-for-29).
In the 55-51 win over Western Michigan on Dec. 22, Gerrity helped erase a nine-point halftime deficit by scoring 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half. With the game tied at 50, he scored on a three-point play with 1:28 remaining and than added a free throw to seal the game for the Trojans. Against Saint Mary's on Dec. 23, he hit a three-pointer with 3:42 left that put a stop to the Gaels rally which saw USC's 17-point lead cut to four. Gerrity scored 17 points and had four rebounds in the 60-49 win. In the title game against UNLV on Dec. 25, Gerrity routinely broke the Rebels' press and finished with 13 points, three assists and no turnovers in the 67-56 victory.
Gerrity is the second consecutive Trojan to claim Pac-10 Player of the Week honors (Alex Stepheson on Dec. 21) and the 31st Trojan all-time to be selected.
Through his first four games this season, Gerrity is averaging 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.25 assists.
