WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott announced today that Sami Whitcomb was named the conference's Player of the Week for Dec. 22-27.
The senior guard/forward led the Huskies to a road victory at Western Michigan on Dec. 22, scoring 20 points - on 7-of-15 shooting - while pulling down six rebounds. Whitcomb also collected three steals and dished out a pair of assists.
More importantly, Whitcomb turned a close game into a comfortable victory with a spectacular outburst in the second half. She scored 11 consecutive points for the Huskies, including eight in a near 30-second span.
