Jan. 12, 2010
LOS ANGELES - UCLA will be one of 14 southern California area baseball programs participating in the 2010 Easton California College Media Day on Friday, Jan. 22, at ESPN Zone in Anaheim's Downtown Disney.
Sixth-year UCLA baseball head coach John Savage will represent the Bruins at the event, one of two California College Media Days being hosted this month. Ten college baseball programs from northern California will host a separate media day function at Stanford University on Monday, Jan. 26. Each day of the event will begin at 9 a.m.
'This is a great event to showcase all that the Golden State has to offer, in regards to college baseball,' said Kyle Horn, Easton's Vice President of Marketing. 'I am happy that Easton can play a big part in this event and further our commitment to the collegiate game.'
Each coach present at Easton California College Media Day will also tape an extended segment with collegebaseballtoday.com's Eric Sorenson. The segment will be posted at the media day's primary webpage, available by clicking here.
Teams from California's Division I college baseball programs have combined to win 29 national championships and have played in over 50 College World Series. Over 80 former players have advanced to Major League Baseball in the past year, and five former players have earned the ultimate honor, being enshrined in Baseball's Hall of Fame - Jackie Robinson (UCLA), Ozzie Smith (Cal Poly), Tony Gwynn (San Diego State), Harry Hopper (Saint Mary's) and Tom Seaver (USC).
Media interested in attending either of the California College Media Days are encouraged to e-mail Stanford baseball sports information director Niall Adler (email@example.com) by Friday, Jan. 15.
