Cardinal Dive Towards LA This Weekend

STANFORD, Calif.-- Dr. Rick Schavone's divers will get back to work in their first diving meet in 2010, when they head to Los Angeles to compete in UCLA's Bruin two-day Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. Other teams slated to compete are the University of San Diego, USC and UConn, as well as the Bruins and Cardinal.
The Cardinal feature four All-Americans on their eight-person roster, and should be joined at the meet by USC All-American Victoria Ishimatus, the Pac-10 champion in the three-meter last year, as well as All-American male divers Harrison Jones and Steven Starks, both from USC. UCLA features last year's Pac-10 runner-up in Laura Winn and Karina Silva, the eight-time Spanish champion in the platform.
Senior Dwight Dumais (Ventura, CA) has scored a best of 370.50 this season in the one-meter, and a career-best 427.80 in the three-meter. Brent Eichenseer's (New Albany, IN) top score of 320.55 in the one-meter came in the team's opening meet in Hawaii, while his best of 388.60 in the three-meter came in the second meet at USC. He also has a season-best of 341.75 in the platform. Freshman Thomas Fraychineaud's top score in both discplines was 272.03 in the the three-meter.
On the women's side Carmen Stellar's (Arcadia, CA) top score in the one-meter, 313.58, is a career-best, as is Meg Hostage's (Potomac, MD) 306.90 score. In the three-meter, the two All-Americans have posted top scores of 312.90 and 298.15, respectively. Sophomore Mary Beth Corbett's (Louisville, KY) best score of 261.15 came in the three-meter, while freshman Jennifer Wylie competed in just one event in the fall.
The full men's and women's swim teams will be back in action the weekend of January 22 and 23, when they host Arizona and Arizona State on the Stanford campus.
