'He Could Go All the Way' -- to the Walter Camp
Jan. 19, 2010
Corvallis, Ore. -
What did you do last weekend? Watch the NFL playoffs, head to the mountains for some skiing, shop? I bet you didn’t hang out with Chris Berman, John Elway, Keyshawn Johnson, Colt McCoy and a few more of your college peers and former NFL greats?
“I had a fantastic time,” Rodgers said. “Everything was first class.”
Rodgers left early Thursday morning for New Haven, CT., where he was met by his host Tom Lally, the Alumni Chairperson for the Camp Awards.
In addition to a reception at a restaurant Friday night and the black tie awards ceremony Saturday, “Quizz” had the opportunity to visit the ESPN campus with Ndamukong Suh of the University of Nebraska. Quizz met with several ESPN personalities including Berman, Johnson, Cris Carter, John Anderson and many more. He was a guest of Mel Kiper Jr., on ESPN Radio Saturday.
During the awards ceremony, which included a presentation to ABC Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts as the recipient of the Distinguished American Award, he was recognized as a 2009 Camp Second Team All-American.
“It was special to meet so many people that I watch on television during the year, and some of my past NFL heroes,” Rodgers said. “I hope I have the opportunity to attend again in the future.”
Rodgers was a first team All-Pac-10 selection in 2009 after rushing for 1,440 yards and a school-record 21 touchdowns. Overall, he accounted for 1,962 total yards and 22 touchdowns.
