What They Are Saying About ASU Men's Hoops...
Jan. 19, 2010
WASHINGTON STATE COACH KEN BONE (ON THE PAC-10 TELECONFERENCE/JAN. 12, 2010)
'I think it (ASU's zone) is unique. Not a lot of teams are playing that type of match-up, but on the other hand Herb (Sendek) has had those kids for a couple of years and they fine-tuned the match-up really well. They know their shifts and they are there on the catch. It's difficult to drive it, difficult to score inside and difficult to get good looks from the three-point line. They do an outstanding job with that defense. It's similar to what was done here with coach Dick and Tony (Bennett). It's good solid basketball. I wish I was a fan and just watched them. I would have left the gym with a smile on my face and excited about the way they played. Instead I appreciate it and respect it. It's frustrating to go against.'
OREGON COACH ERNIE KENT ON IF ASU'S DEFENSE IS BETTER THAN LAST SEASON (PAC-10 TELECONFERENCE/JAN. 19, 2010)
'They hustle really well in it. They're better in because they understand it better because they got a few guys that are a little older playing it. But I think they are really good offensively. I think that has helped them. They're really skilled. They can really shoot the ball. They share it very well. They got four guys that can shoot the three on you and I just think they're understanding in what they're doing offensively, their patience to get good shots offensively has helped their defense.
OREGON COACH ERNIE KENT ON HOW THEY HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT AFTER HAVING TWO PLAYERS DRAFTED (PAC-10 TELECONFERENCE/JAN. 19, 2010)
'There was probably that concern, but I think it's compensated by just playing excellent team basketball. Not that they weren't before. ... They play really well as a team. They really share the ball. They really give it up to each other well. They got a lot of confidence in each other and consequently they're playing well right now.'
