The Washington State women's basketball team concludes its first run through the Pacific-10 Conference, playing host to cross-state rival Washington Friday at Friel Court. Tip-off between the Cougars and Huskies is scheduled for 5 p.m., and will be televised live by FSN Northwest.
The Cougars (5-14, 0-8 Pac-10) are looking for their first conference victory, while the Huskies (8-10, 3-5 Pac-10) have lost four-straight.
Friday's game will be televised live by FSN Northwest, with a pre-game show beginning at 4:30 p.m. Brad Adam will call the play-by-play and Francis Williams will serve as analyst.
Fans can listen to the game live on KQQQ 1150 AM and on translator 105.3 FM in Pullman/Moscow, or at wsucougars.com. Steve Grubbs has the call live from Pullman.
COUGS HELPING HAITI
At the game, WSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members will be helping the people of Haiti by collecting funds for the American Red Cross as part of the 'Cougs Helping Haiti' effort.
COUGS HAVE HEART
The Cougars' match-up with Washington marks the third annual Cougs Have Heart game to raise support and awareness of sudden cardiac arrest. More than 1,000 fans will receive a free Cougs Have Heart t-shirt, and admission is free for all WSU faculty and staff. Admission is also free for all students (elementary, middle school, high school and college) with valid student ID. All other fans wearing Cougar apparel get in for $1.
The Cougars are looking to end a 28-game losing streak to intrastate rival Washington. WSU's last victory over the Huskies came Feb. 25, 1995, a 72-67 win in Pullman. WSU trails 17-59 in the all-time series, including a mark of 3-28 at home.
CLOSE CONFERENCE GAMES
Although the Cougars are 0-8 in the Pacific-10 Conference, they have held second-half leads in a majority of their league games. WSU has held second-half leads in six of the team's eight conference games, including four leads with less than 10 minutes remaining and two with less than four minutes on the clock.
The Cougars entered this week leading the conference and ranking 25th-nationally in turnover margin, forcing 4.79 more turnovers per game than committing.
