Fifth Annual Pink Out, No. 5 Stanford On Deck for No. 6 Gymnastics

THE MEET ... The No. 6 Oregon State gymnastics team (5-0) remains at home this Friday to host the fifth annual Pink Out when the Beavers battle fifth-ranked Stanford (2-1) and Seattle Pacific (0-3). The meet at legendary Gill Coliseum is set to start at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.
Friday's meet will be stream live via the Internet on Beaver Nation Online (osubeavers.com) for a fee. The meet is produced by OSU's Media Services in collaboration with OSU Athletics' video department. Former OSU gymnasts Jami Lanz and Adonica Glatt provide analysis.
THE SERIES ... Over the course of the last four seasons, in which the Beavers have reached the NCAA Championships each year, Oregon State and Stanford have faced each other on 10 occasions with the Cardinal coming out on top six times. However, the Beavers hold the all-time series lead 50-24 and are 21-4 against the Cardinal all-time at Gill Coliseum ... OSU has never lost to SPU in 39 meetings.
PINK OUT ... Oregon State Athletics in partnership with The Corvallis Clinic host the Pink Out in an effort to raise money and awareness for breast and cervical cancer. Fans are encouraged to purchase an official Pink Out t-shirt from Beaver Authentics and wear the shirt to the meet to receive one free general admission ticket to the event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Corvallis Clinic's Project H.E.R. (Help, Enlightenment, and Resources). Project H.E.R. is a comprehensive breast health program available to women in Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties.
LAST TIME ON THE FLOOR ... Oregon State improved its record to 5-0 with a 195.700-192.800 win last week over Washington. Despite performing short-handed on the bars - with Leslie Mak and Olivia Vivian out of the lineup due to injury - and counting a fall on the event the Beavers went unchallenged in the victory. Freshman Makayla Stambaugh scored 39.500 in the all-around, the fifth highest score by a freshman in OSU history, and added individual titles on bars, beam and floor. Mandi Rodriguez also enjoyed a great meet with a 39.325 in the all-around tied her career mark with a 9.95 on the vault. Becky Colvin matched her career-high on vault (9.90) and set a personal best on the floor (9.825).
WHAT'S COMING UP ... Next week, the Beavers return to the road for just the second time in 2010. OSU will travel to the Bay Area to face California, Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
PAC-10 GYMNAST OF THE WEEK ... Makayla Stambaugh won four individual titles and scored a 39.500 in the all-around to secure Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 18-24. Stambaugh notched wins on the bars (9.85), beam (9.875) and floor (9.90) en route to the first Pac-10 honors of her career.
TICKETS ... Tickets for the 2010 season are on sale for for Oregon State's three remaining home meets.
The Beavers are scheduled to face Stanford and Seattle Pacific (Jan. 29), Arizona (Feb. 12) and Kentucky (Mar. 19).

IN THE RANKINGS ... All four of Oregon State's lineups are ranked in this week's Top 12. The Beavers are ranked tied for 5th on vault, 12th on the uneven bars, 9th on the balance beam and 2nd on the floor exercise ... in addition, several OSU gymnasts are ranked among the top 15 in the nation: Mandi Rodriguez (9.875 average) is tied for eighth and Becky Colvin (9.858) is tied for 15th on the vault; Leslie Mak (9.925) is ranked second and Laura-Ann Chong (9.883) is fifth on bars; Makayla Stambaugh (9.858) is sixth and Chong (9.833) is tied for 15th on the beam; Stambaugh (9.900) is tied for sixth and Rodriguez (9.867) is tied for 15th on the floor; Stambaugh is tied for seventh in the all-around (39.267) and Rodriguez is 15th (39.150).
BEAVERS ALL ACCESS ... The Oregon State gymnastics team was featured recently on Beavers All Access on FSN NW. The 30-minute television program can now be seen via Beaver Nation Online, the audio/visual service of osubeavers.com.
MORE MEDIA FOR THE BEAVS ... FSN's 'Runnin' with the Pac' was on campus this week gathering interviews and footage for a future episode that will feature the Oregon State men's basketball and women's gymnastics teams. The show is expected to air Jan. 28.
PINK OUT BREAKFAST AND SILENT AUCTION ... The Beavers' booster club, the 10.0 Club, is set to host the third annual Pink Out Breakfast and Silent Auction which will be held Jan. 30 in the Club Level of Reser Stadium. Sign in begins at 9:30 a.m. with breakfast starting at 10. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the silent auction go to The Corvallic Clinic's Project H.E.R. (Help. Enlightenment. Resources.).
