Swimming Heads to Washington State for Conference Finale

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's swim team travels to Pullman, Wash. this Friday, Jan. 29 to take on the Washington State Cougars in the Pacific-10 conference finale for the Beavers. The dual meet begins at 5 p.m. in the Douglas F. Gibb pool.
Oregon State (5-6 overall, 0-4 Pacific-10 Conference) is looking for its first conference dual win against the Cougars who hold the all-time series record at 27-16-0. Oregon State has won seven of the last eight meetings between the two schools dating back to the 2003 season.
The Beavers defeated the Cougars 131.5-130.5 which went all the way down to the final event, the 400 yard medley relay. Former swimmer Kayla Rawlings led off the relay for the Beavers and was followed by Jenni Dole, Kate Hagan, and Brittney Iverson who finished with a final time of 3:32.04 which was good enough for a third place finish which earned the team two points to capture the one point victory at home.
The last time out for Oregon State it defeated Seattle University 162-98 Friday, Jan. 22 at Stevens Natatorium in the final home meet for six Beaver seniors. Seven different Oregon State swimmers won individual events including four seniors. Seniors Signe Larson and Iverson both took home two dual wins apiece. Freshman Rachel O'Brien swept the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events for her fifth and sixth dual wins of the season.
As a team this season, the Beavers have won 33 total dual events with Iverson leading the way with seven dual wins this season. She has the most career dual wins on the active roster for the Beavers with 19.
Oregon State will finish its dual season Saturday Jan. 30 when it heads to Moscow, Idaho to face off with the University of Idaho starting at 12 p.m. It will be the final event before the team competes at the Pac-10 Championship Feb. 24-27.
