The No. 6 Oregon State gymnastics team beat No. 5 Stanford in sound fashion 196.225-195.775 as the Beavers (7-0) remain unbeaten through the first month of the season. The Beavers outperformed the competition on the uneven bars and balance beam as they delighted the crowd of 6,143 fans, OSU's largest crowd since 1997, in the fifth annual Pink Out. Mandi Rodriguez and Makayla Stambaugh finished first and second in the all-around to pace the Beavers.

Oregon State's record improved to 7-0, Stanford is now 3-2 and Seattle Pacific fell to 0-5. Rodriguez notched two other individual titles, in addition to her all-around victory, tying for first on the vault and earning the top spot on the floor exercise.

Friday's meet was OSU's fifth annual Pink Out, an event designed to raise money and awareness for breast and cervical cancer.

OSU took the early lead in the first rotation posting a respectable vault score of 49.125 to Stanford's 49.050 on the bars. Stephanie McGregor tallied a 9.775 to open the meet for the Beavers to set the tone. In the back half of the lineup Stambaugh and Becky Colvin added scores of 9.825 and 9.875 respectively to set up two-time vault All-American Mandi Rodriguez, who nailed her vault to earn a share of the individual title with a 9.90.

The Beavers bars lineup, which has struggled the last two weeks with Olivia Vivian and Leslie Mak missing from the lineup due to injury, welcomed Vivian's return to the lineup and scored a 49.400 for the second time in 2010 - a score that has been bettered only once this season in the nation (Alabama, 49.475). Following a rough opening routine by Whitney Watson, Rodriguez settled the Beavers with a graceful routine and stuck landing to score 9.85. Vivian followed with a career-best 9.90 and Jen Kesler continued her solid season with a 9.825. Laura-Ann Chong followed with a beautiful routine and a 9.925 for the third time this season. Stambaugh's 9.90 gave the Beavers a 98.525-97.875 lead at the halfway point.

Oregon State's beam team was on a mission to reach the 49-point barrier after missing the mark last week and being challenged by head coach Tanya Chaplin. The Beavers accomplished the mission and set a season-high of 49.225 in the process. Vivian bested her career-high with a 9.825 from the lead-off position. Rodriguez and Chong matched Vivian and Leslie Mak and Makayla Stambaugh added a pair of 9.875's.

Heading for the final rotation, OSU held a comfortable 147.750-146.625 lead. Freshman Kelsi Blalock, in the floor lineup for the first time, opened the rotation with a routine that got the fans excited and earned a score of 9.750. However, missed routines by Vivian and Chong sandwiched around a solid effort by Colvin (9.775) hindered the momentum for the end of the lineup. Stambaugh performed a beautiful routine but received a 9.775 to set up Rodriguez who tumbled to a 9.90 to end the night.

The Beavers travel to Berkeley, Calif. to face the California Golden Bears at Haas Pavilion next Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. OSU returns to the friendly confines of legendary Gill Coliseum the following Friday, Feb. 12 to host Arizona at 7 p.m.

NOTE: The 6,143 fans in attendance is the largest gymnastics crowd at OSU since the Beavers set the regular season record with a crowd of 7,583 for a dual against Utah, Feb. 7, 1997 ... OSU has scored 49.400 on the uneven bars twice this season. Only Alabama has posted a higher score on the bars this season - 49.475 last week ... Olivia Vivian (finger) returned to the bars lineup for the first time since suffering the injury during warm-ups at Ohio State (1/16) ... Jen Kesler competed in the balance beam lineup for the first time in 2010, scoring 9.675 ... Freshman Kelsi Blalock performed on the floor exercise for the first time in her career and scored 9.750.
