Rain Alters Plans for UCLA's Alumni Baseball Game
Feb. 5, 2010
LOS ANGELES - Due to rain in the Los Angeles area, the UCLA baseball program will not play its Alumni Game on Saturday, but will host a reception from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Gifford Hitting Facility for Bruin baseball alumni and their families.
The baseball program encourages former players and their families to attend, as lunch will be served in the Bruins' state-of-the-art Jack and Rhodine Gifford Hitting Facility on Saturday, Feb. 6. Refreshments will be available beginning at 10 a.m., and hitting cages will be open for the program's alumni. Lunch will be served at noon in the hitting facility.
'It's unfortunate that we won't be able to take the field on Saturday, but we still look forward to seeing our former players,' head coach John Savage said. 'The weather forecast calls for rain through Friday evening and into Saturday. In the best interest and safety of our players, we don't believe we should be playing on the field Saturday afternoon.'
This season's Alumni Game will not be rescheduled. Saturday's reception in the hitting facility is not open to the general public.
UCLA opens its 2010 season at home versus Southern University on Friday, Feb. 19. Game time is 6 p.m.
