Bruins Fourth after Second Day at Regional Challenge

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team was fourth following Tuesday's second round of the Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates.
The Bruins posted a team score of 300 (+16) for a two-round total of 595 (+27). They trailed third place Denver (594, +26) by one shot. USC continued to pace the field (580, +12), but lost ground to Pepperdine, which fired the best round of the day -- a three-over par score of 287 -- for a 36-hole total of 582 (+14). Ohio State and Duke were tied for fifth at 597 (+29).
UCLA freshman Tiffany Lua climbed from a tie for 21st at the start of the day into a tie for 11th after posting the Bruins' best score, a two-over par 73. She was deadlocked with three other players at 147 (+5). Senior Sydnee Michaels posted a 74 (+3) and was tied for 20th at 149 (+7) and junior Glory Yang was tied for 15th at 148 (+6) after carding a 75 (+4). Tied for 29th place at 151 (+9) was sophomore Brianna Do, who posted a 78 (+7) on Tuesday. Fourth-year junior Lalita Boonnoppornkul was tied for 45th place at 155 (+13) and freshman Stacy Kim was in 77th place at 165 (+23).
Pepperdine's Lisa McCloskey posted the day's best round -- a four-under par 67 -- and held a three-stroke lead at 138 (-4) over teammate Taylore Karle (141, -1).
Third round action continues Wednesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
