Men's Track & Field Annouces 2010 National Letter-Of-Intent Signing Class

Mike Maynard and the UCLA men's track and field coaching staff have announced the signing of seven standout athletes to National Letters-of-Intent. The Bruins had already announced the signing of two of the nation's best, Michael Woepse (pole vault) and Alec Faldermeyer (throws), and now Leon Dilihunt, Ronald Frasier, Cole Guerin, Philip MacQuitty and Pablo Rosales have signed on to become Bruins.Dillihunt is a sprinter from Dominguez HS. In 2008, Dilluhunt had the No. 2 400m time in California (46.60), a time he ran as a 14-year old sophomore. That year, he placed second at the California State meet.
'Leon is a great young sprinter with a lot of range and even more upside,' said sprint coach LaMonte Vaughn. 'He has the ability to mature into one of the nation's best sprinters.'
Ronald Frasier (Elk Grove, CA/Jesuit HS) is one of the top national indoor performers in the sprint events. He currently ranks fifth in the 55m (6.38) after winning the California Indoor State Meet in February, and also ranks 10th in the nation in the 55m hurdles (7.52). In 2009, he had a top 110m hurdles time of 14.43.
Cole Guerin hails from San Juan Capistrano and Dana Hills where he is a distance runner. In 2009, Guerin had a top 800m time of 1:54.33 and a 400m best of 49.86. MacQuitty (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto HS) is also a distance runner. In 2009, he had a top 3200m time of 9:07.23 and a 1600m time of 4:15.44. Rosales (San Pedro, CA/San Pedro HS) is the third distance signee for the Bruins. He was named the Daily Breeze's cross country athlete of the year in 2009. During the cross country season, he recorded the fastest time in L.A. City Section and South Bay history at the Mt. SAC Invitational in October. Rosales won the Marine League, the City Section, was the state Division I runner-up and placed 33rd at Foot Locker Nationals. Last track season, he had a top 1600m time of 4:18.88.
'We are extremely pleased with our recruiting class on the whole,' added Coach Maynard. 'In addition to Faldermeyer and Woepse, we are excited to have the commitment of many great signees who, as they develop, will continue the legacy of Bruin track and field.'
