Baseball To Play As Scheduled

Feb. 20, 2010

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona baseball game scheduled for 6 p.m. this evening against Utah Valley will be played as scheduled despite early afternoon rains.

A round of moderate to heavy rains dampened the Tucson area just after Noon on Saturday, but Jerry Kindall Field at Frank Sancet Stadium was covered with a tarp and the field will be in playing condition for the scheduled 6 p.m. start assuming no additional significant rain comes down.

The Arizona softball double-header against Missouri was cancelled on Saturday after the rains suspended play for the first game, which was set for Noon. The teams will instead play a double-header on Sunday.

The Arizona baseball team defeated Utah Valley in the season opener for both teams on Friday night, 8-1. The teams close the series on Sunday at Noon.

Kyle Simon is expected to make the start on the mound this evening for the Wildcats.
