No. 27 California Edges No. 8 Stanford 4-3 In Women's Tennis

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 27 California rallied from a 3-1 deficit to claim a 4-3 victory over No. 8 Stanford on Saturday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford falls to 7-2 with the loss while California improves to 7-1. Saturday's match does not count in the Pac-10 standings, as the second matchup in Berkeley on Apr. 17 is the counting match.

The Cardinal took a 1-0 lead by capturing the doubles point. With the first two matches split, the duo of Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thacher picked up an 8-4 win over Cal's Jonathan Dahan and Pedro Zerbini at the No. 1 spot.

Ryan Thacher's 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 position put Stanford in front 2-0 before Nick Andrews got the Golden Bears on the scoreboard with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court four.

Greg Hirshman followed with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Riki McLachlan at the No. 6 spot, giving Stanford a 3-1 lead.

But California rallied back with victories on courts five and two, respectively, to even the match at 3-3. Christoffer Konigsfeldt then took down Alex Clayton 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot to provide the clincher.
