No. 4 Cal Men's Swimming Narrowly Falls at No. 2 Stanford, 123.5-119.5, in Big Meet

STANFORD, CALIF. - The No. 4-ranked California men's swimming and diving team (5-2, 2-2 Pac-10) narrowly fell to No. 2-ranked Stanford, 123.5-119.5, in the Big Meet Saturday, Feb. 20, at Avery Aquatic Center. Going into the final event, the 400 free relay, Cal trailed Stanford by only nine points after senior Sean Mahoney's close win over John Criste in the 200 breaststroke. In the 400 free relay, the Cardinal had led through most of the race until the Golden Bears' Nathan Adrian pulled Cal ahead for good on the anchor leg, placing the outcome of the meet in the race for third place, where Stanford topped the Bears for the dual meet win.
