Watch Dillon's Big Day On UWTV Husky Classics
Feb. 21, 2010
UWTV and FSN will present one of the greatest individual performances in Husky football history this Monday night at 7:00 p.m. as part of its weekly Husky Classics, a weekly series on UWTV featuring favorite University of Washington football and basketball games.
Check out FSN's original telecast of the Nov. 16, 1996 Washington vs. San Jose State telecast, when Corey Dillon put on a record-setting performance.
Dillon posted one of the greatest first quarters in college history when he rushed for 222 yards and also caught an 83-yard touchdown pass on a screen play. The 222 yards rushing and 305 yards of total offense were both NCAA records for a quarter.
Dillon went on to rush for a school-record 1,555 yards and 24 touchdowns that year. In the San Jose State game, he surpassed the school records for rushing yards, all-purpose yards, rushing TDs and total TDs.
Washington beat the Spartans, 53-10, that day and set team records for total offense (734 yards), rushing yards (559), rush yards per attempt (9.0) and had three 100-yard rushers for the first (and still only) time in school history as Terry Hollimon (148 yards) and Maurice Shaw (100) also each passed the century mark.
