Cougars Finish Opening Day of Pac-10 Championships

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Eight schools made the trip to Long Beach, Calif., for the Pac-10 Championships which began Wednesday night with two relay events.

The WSU team of Rugile Mileisyte, Shawna Keller, Michaela Ahlin and Talor Whitaker finished eighth in the 200 medley relay. The veteran quartet touched the wall in a time of 1:41.40, a season best. The Cougars' second team consisted of Shelbi Luchini, Jessie Craig, Evelina Bieleckaite and Jenna Bekker finished in 1:43.85.

Ahlin, Whitaker, Emma Neely and Jennifer Dean were represented WSU in the 800 freestyle relay, finishing seventh in a time of 7:20.31.

Competition will resume tomorrow with the preliminary session beginning at 11 a.m. and the finals session beginning at 6 p.m.
