Cougar Women's Golf Begins Spring Season in California

What's Happening This Week: The Washington State women's golf team will travel to Santa Clarita, Calif. to play in the Bruin/Wave Invitational hosted by UCLA March 1-3, at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club. The 18-team field will play 18 holes each day of the tournament, with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. Monday.
The Course: Robinson Ranch Golf Club, a par-72, will play at 6,282 yards for the event.
The Field: There are 11 ranked teams in the 18-school field, according to Golfstat.com UCLA (1), Arizona State (2), USC (6), Arizona (8), Pepperdine (9), Stanford (13), New Mexico (21), Oregon (33), Washington (34), UNLV (42) and San Francisco (44). Also competing are San Diego State, Long Beach State, BYU, Cal State Northridge, Oregon State, Washington State and New Mexico State.
Last Time Out: The Cougars are coming off a successful fall season in which they participated in five tournaments. The final tournament of the fall was their most successful, as the team posted a three-round total of 882 (+42). The second round score of 282 (+2) was the fifth-lowest of the tournament and the lowest round of the season for WSU. Freshman Ali Thompson led the team for the fifth consecutive event with a tournament total of 214 (+4), and carded the two lowest rounds of the season with a 70 (E) and 69 (-1) finishing in a tie for 15th.
