Krais Wins MPSF Indoor Pentathlon Crown

Sophomore Ryann Krais captured the MPSF Indoor pentathlon crown with ease on Friday evening as she scored a lifetime-best 4041 points en route to victory in Seattle, WA.
Her five event point total moves her to No. 4 in the NCAA this season. The mark is an NCAA provisional qualifier and just nine points shy of the NCAA auto standard. Her total was also over 200 points better then the second-place finisher.
Krais started the day off with a fifth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a season-best time of 8.84 (944 pts.). She then cleared an indoor lifetime-best of 5-9.75 in the high jump for the second-best mark of the day (941 pts.). In the shot put, Krais posted a mark of 34-11.75 (6th overall, 573 pts.). Krais was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 18-1.75 (709 pts.). She capped off the day with a lifetime-best run in the 800m (2:16.34) for 874 points.
Also on Friday in Seattle, senior Danielle Watson finished third in the long jump with a career-best and improved NCAA provisional mark of 20-9.
In the 5000m, junior Kelcie Wiemann finished 16th overall with a lifetime-best of 17.10.03.
Stanford leads the team race with 52 points, while the Bruins stand in eighth (9 points) after five scored events.
Competition continues on Saturday at the MPSF Indoor Championships.
