PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Stanford's game versus Texas A&M at the Cathedral City Classic, scheduled for Saturday morning, has been cancelled. Rain in the Palm Springs area fell this morning, making field conditions unplayable. The game will not be made up as the Aggies were scheduled to return home Saturday afternoon.
Stanford has gone 2-1 so far in the tournament, picking up wins over No. 21 Tennessee (8-7) and Long Beach State (4-3). The Cardinal's loss came to No. 23 Northwestern, 4-0, in game one of its double-header on Friday.
Stanford's pair of All-Americans, senior Alissa Haber and sophomore Ashley Hansen, have led the Cardinal offensively in its first three games of the weekend tournament. Both are hitting .556, going 5-9. Haber has hit two home runs and collected five RBI, while Hansen has tallied a home run and two doubles for three RBI.
Stanford will play a double-header Sunday morning before returning to the Bay Area. The Cardinal will take on Syracuse at 9 a.m. and UNLV at 11 a.m. to wrap up the Cathedral City Classic.
