The No. 13 USC men's swimming team will compete in the 2010 Pac-10 Championships, Wednesday through Saturday (March 3-6) at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif.
PAC-10 CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE
Events begin on Wednesday (March 3) with timed finals of the 200y medley and 800y free relays that begin at 6 p.m. From Thursday through Saturday (March 4-6), prelims begin at 11 a.m. and finals start at 6 p.m. each day. Thursday's schedule features the 500y free, 200y IM, 50y free and 200y free relay. Friday features the 400y IM, 100y fly, 200y free, 100y breast, 100y back and 400y medley relay. Saturday's finale includes the 200y back, 100y free, 200y breast, 200y fly, a timed final of the 1650y free and the 400y free relay.
PAC-10 DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2010 Men's and Women's Pac-10 Diving Championships took place last week in Federal Way, Washington, where USC sophomore Harrison Jones won a conference title on 3-meter. The win was USC's 28th Pac-10 title and its first on a springboard event since 1999. Jones also finished second on platform and was fifth on 1-meter. Junior Steven Starks was sixth on platform, marking the third time he finished in the top six in the event at the Pac-10s. He also reached the final on 3-meter.
Including Harrison Jones' 2010 Pac-10 title on 3-meter, USC has won at least one Pac-10 title in 14 consecutive seasons (1997-2010) and has 215 individual conference crowns overall.
The Trojans (7-3) have been led this season by freshman French Olympian Clement Lefert, senior Hungarian Olympian Zoltan Povazsay as well as senior James Martin, sophomore Patrick White and freshman Alex Lendrum.
Lefert owns four NCAA `B' cuts and several times ranked among the fastest in the nation including his 200y (1:34.96) and 500y free (4:19.60), which are ranked 10th and fifth, respectively. His 100y (47.40) and 200y fly (1:44.28) are ranked 23rd and eighth, respectively.
Lendrum has four NCAA `B' cuts as well as, coming in the 200y (1:49.07) and 400y IM (3:51.34) and the 100y (48.71, 28th) and the 200y back (1:45.18, 17th).
Martin, a co-captain with White, has clocked `B' cuts in the 200y (1:49.25) and 400y IM (3:49.23, 17th) and the 200y back (1:46.42). Fellow senior Povazsay owns `B' cuts in the 200y (1:36.44) and the 500y free (4:21.55), ranked 23rd and 14th, nationally.
White has `B' cuts in the 200y (1:36.08) and the 500y free (4:23.63), the former ranked 20th in the nation. Junior Emmett Walling has a `B' cut in the 50y free (20.19), sophomore Jeff Daniels has one in the 100y free (43.94), sophomore Julian Bonse has one in the 1650y free (15:29.15) and junior Dillon Connolly has one in the 100y breast (54.44), 17th-fastest in the nation.
Sophomore diver Harrison Jones, USC's lone returning All-American from last year, was named the Pac-10 Men's Diver of the Month for November. In addition to Jones, USC returning NCAA Championships participants include Martin, Povazsay, Connolly, Starks and White.
