March 8, 2010
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- OREGON senior catcher Eddie Rodriguez has been named the Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week and CALIFORNIA junior right-handed pitcher Kevin Miller has been named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for March 1-7, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Rodriguez of Warden, Wash., led the Ducks to a series sweep over Fresno State. It was the first sweep in the modern era for Oregon and first since 1980. For the week, the senior catcher went 11-for-16 for a .688 batting average. He also had a .875 slugging percentage, a .688 on-base percentage, four RBI and 14 total bases. His best performance of the week came in the series opener against the Bulldogs when he was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a home run.
This marks the first-career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for Rodriguez and Oregon’s first all-time Player of the Week selection.
Miller put on outstanding pitching performance against No. 17 Arkansas as he allowed four hits and no runs in 6.0 innings of work. The San Jose, Calif., native stuck out three Razorbacks as the Golden Bears recorded their fifth shutout of the season. The junior right-hander evened his record to 1-1 on the season.
This is the first-career Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week selection for Miller and the 30th all-time honoree for California.
