Diving Foursome Heads To Texas For NCAA Zone E Championships

The foursome of juniors Karina Silva and Laura Winn and freshmen Maggy Boyd and Michelle Vale will begin competition on Thursday at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Austin, TX with the hopes of earning a spot at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.

One-meter competition will kick off the meet on Thursday beginning at noon (CST). Three-meter will be held on Friday, also at noon (CST). Prelim rounds will go first, followed by the finals arround 2:45 pm (CST) both days. There are 48 divers in all for the springboard events, and the top 18 will advance to the finals.

Tower will be contested on Saturday beginning at 11:30 am. The top 12 divers after prelims will advance to the finals.

Six women from Zone E will earn a spot at the National Championship.

All four women will compete on the springboards, while only Silva and Winn will compete on tower. Two weeks ago at Pac-10s, Silva broke the school and Pac-10 record on tower with a lifetime-best score of (312.70), while Winn posted a career score of 272.10.
