Golfers Second after Day One in Las Vegas

The 12th-ranked UCLA men's golf team was in second place following the opening round at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas Friday.
The Bruins posted a first-round score of 294 (+6) and trailed first-place Florida (292, +4) by two strokes. In third place was Texas A&M at 295 (+7), followed by host UNLV and USC in a tie for fourth at 296 (+8).
Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Gregor Main posted the team's best score at two-under par 70 and was tied for third with three other players. Classmate Alex Shi Yup Kim was tied for 12th after carding a 73 (+1). Junior Connor Driscoll was tied for 25th after signing for a 75 (+3). Tied for 38th was freshman Pedro Figueiredo at four-over par 76. Freshman Pontus Widegren was tied for 46th place at five-over par 77.
TCU's Johan de Beer and Florida's Tyson Alexander were the co-leaders after the opening round, each player firing a four-under par 68.
