Alysia Johnson Reaches 800 Final at World Indoors

Former Cal star Alysia Johnson finished third in her heat to qualify for Sunday's final of the 800 meters at the World Indoor Track & Field Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Johnson crossed the line in 2:01.55 behind Jennifer Meadows of Great Britain and Mariya Savinova of Russia. Her time was the third fastest of all the qualifiers.
In Friday's other heat, the USA's Anna Pierce won in 2:03.05.
Johnson captured both the NCAA indoor and outdoor 800 titles in 2007. Later that summer, she won the USA 800-meter championship to qualify for the '07 World Championships. Johnson still holds Cal records in the 800 both indoors (2:03.39) and outdoors (1:59.29).
