Cal Baseball Loses, 26-11, at No. 9 Rice

HOUSTON, TEXAS - The California baseball team had held a 7-2 lead after five innings, but gave up 24 runs in the next three innings on the way to a 26-11 loss to No. 9-ranked Rice Saturday (March 13) at Reckling Park in Houston. The Golden Bears, who had won the first two games (8-6, 6-4) of the four game series, fell to 9-4, and the host Owls improved to 9-7. A positive note for Cal was the starting pitching of sophomore right-hander Dixon Anderson (5.0 innings, five hits, two runs, five walks, four strikeouts), and home runs from sophomore Marcus Semien and freshmen Tony Renda and Mitch Delfino.
