Bruins Tie for First at Southern Highlands

Twelfth-ranked UCLA finished in a tie for first place Sunday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas.
The Bruins tied with host Nevada Las Vegas at 899 (+35) after posting a final round score of 299 (+11), the best single round total of the day. UNLV carded a team score of 306 (+18) and lost its 10-shot, 36-hole lead. USC and Texas A&M tied for third at 908 (+44), followed by Texas Tech at 911 (+47). Higher-ranked teams like No.10 Arizona State (6th), No.3 Texas (7th), No.1 Oklahoma State (11th) and No.4 Florida (14th) finished well out of contention.
Individually for the the Bruins, freshman Pedro Figueiredo tied for eighth place at 223 (+7) after posting an even par score of 72 in the final round. Sophomore Gregor Main placed 11th at 224 (+8) after carding a 77 (+5) on Sunday. Sophomore Alex Shi Yup Kim tied for 19th at 228 (+12) following a round of 79 (+7) and freshman Pontus Widegren tied for 21st at 229 (+13) after a round of 74 (+2). Junior Connor Driscoll tied for 35th at 233 (+17) after signing for a 76 (+4).
Arizona State's Jesper Kennegard won medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 219 (+3) following a final round 76 (+4).
