Cal Baseball Loses to Houston, 12-9, in 11 Innings

BERKELEY, CALIF. -

Down 7-0, the Cal baseball team made an impressive comeback with eight runs in the bottom of seventh inning, but was not able to hold on, falling 12-9 in 11 innings to visiting Houston Wednesday afternoon at Evans Diamond. The Golden Bears and the Cougars both saw their records go to 9-6. Besides Cal scoring eight runs with two outs in the seventh inning, freshman center fielder Darrel Matthews had a clutch two-out RBI triple in the bottom of the 10th inning to keep the Bears alive.
