California Posts Season High Team Score in Final Regular Season Meet

The California Golden Bears logged their top team score of the season in their final meet before the Pac-10 Championships, earning a 192.450 in a tri-meet featuring Denver (195.400) and Arizona (195.325) in Denver.
Cal had seven routines score a 9.700 or higher, including two 9.800 or higher. Freshman Mariesah Pierce earned a 9.800 on her floor routine, the third meet in a row she has earned a 9.800 or higher on the floor. The performance of the night came from Alex Leggitt who scored a career-high 9.825 for her beam routine. She finished third in the event.
The beam was the Bears top event, with Cal earning a 48.800 team score, their highest beam score of the season. In addition to Leggitt, sophomore Erica Varon scored a season-best 9.775. Freshman Nicolette Lew matched her season best with a 9.750. Junior Avery Gee and freshman Mariesah Pierce each scored 9.725's.
The Bears continued to be strong on the floor, scoring a 48.075. In addition to Pierce's 9.800, junior Avery Gee logged a 9.725.
Lew had the Bears' top bar mark with a 9.700. She also led the team on the vault with a 9.625.
The Bears had three all-arounders with Avery Gee earning her best score of the season, totaling 38.375. Pierce, in her second all-around of the season, scored a 38.500. Freshman Madisyn O'Brien scored 37.750.
The Bears head to Tucson, Arizona next week for the Pac-10 Championships. The meet takes place Saturday, March 27. Live stats will be available for the meet.
