JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -

Complete First Day Results

The 20th-ranked Oregon State men’s golf team completed the first day of the Duck Invitational at Shadow Hills Country Club and stand in third place after rounds of 365 (+5) and 361 (+1) in the play-six, count-five format tournament.

“In a six-count-five format, playing 36 holes, you’re going to make some mistakes along the way,” head coach Brian Watts said. “Unfortunately our few mistakes turned into double bogeys. We had a difficult time getting putts to fall from inside 10 feet and right now that is the difference between and third and first place. The six-count-five format is encouraging for us as we look ahead to the final round tomorrow.”

Sophomore Casey King, who is playing as an individual this week, shot back-to-back rounds of 70 to tie for first place.

“Casey had a great day. His short game was tested in the first round as he didn’t hit many greens but he chipped and putted well. We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s round and hope he’ll continue his great play.”

The Duck Invitational is a two-day, 54-hole tournament played at the 7,020-yard, par-72 Shadow Hills Country Club. Thirty-six holes were played on Monday with the final 18 coming on Tuesday.
