ASU Women's Basketball Defeated by BYU 61-53 in Second Round of WNIT

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's basketball team saw its 2009-10 campaign come to an end on Tuesday night as BYU defeated the Sun Devils 61-53 in the second round of the 2010 Women's National Invitation Tournament.
Senior guard Danielle Orsillo (13 points), junior guard Tenaya Watson (11 points) and senior forward Kayli Murphy (10 points) led the Sun Devils (18-14) on the offensive end while junior forward Becca Tobin had her fourth double-digit rebounding game of the season (11) to go along with six points.
BYU (22-9) had three players - junior guards Jazmine Foreman (17 points) and Haley Hall (14 points) and sophomore center Kristen Riley (10 points) - score in double figures as the Cougars shot 49 percent for the game compared to 36 percent for ASU.
Facing an eight-point deficit after the first 20 minutes of play, it appeared the Sun Devils found their stride following a 10-0 run to open the second half. Watson's layup gave the Sun Devils a 33-31 lead with 14:16 left before the Cougars scored their first points of the second half on their ensuing possession to tie the game at 33-33.
The teams would engage in a see-saw battle over the next five minutes before the Cougars reeled off five consecutive points to take a 47-42 lead with 7:27 remaining.The Sun Devils would battle back and cut BYU's lead to a single point on two separate occasions, however each time the Cougars would have an answer. After Orsillo's jumper brought ASU to within a single point at 49-48, BYU would respond with a 7-0 run to go up 56-48 with 1:06 left.
