PULLMAN, Wash. - Freshman Xavier Thames has been granted his release from the Washington State University men's basketball team and will transfer at the end of the semester, head coach Ken Bone announced Monday morning.

'We wish Xavier the best and hope he has a successful career wherever he transfers too,' Bone said. 'We appreciate the contributions that he made to this year's team and will help him in any way we can.'

Thames saw action in all 31 games for the Cougs this season, notching four starts as a rookie. A native of Sacramento, Calif., he averaged 4.6 points and 1.2 assists in 17.6 minutes of action per game.
