TUCSON - The University of Arizona track and field squads began the season unranked, according to the preseason outdoor rankings released by the USTFCCCA this week.  That minor detail probably won't last long as they essentially take part in the first complete meet as a team this weekend at the Jim Click Invitational at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

The Wildcats also didn't start off the indoor season ranked either, but climbed within the top twenty on both the men's and women's sides after one full week of competition and it wouldn't be suprising to see the same after this weekend.

Though the Wildcats have taken part in two meets this outdoor season, the first was more of a tune-up while the second featured only the distance squads.  This weekend's annual Jim Click Shootout will feature the majority of the team in action and in their primary events and you can expect the 'Cats will come out blazing.

The meet will serve as a a faceoff between the Pac-10, Big 12 and Big 10 conferences with squads from Nebraska, Kansas State, Minnesota and California also in attendance.  The teams will compete for both a men's and women's team title.

Events are scheduled to begin Saturday at 9 a.m. The meet officially kicked off today with schools from Arizona State, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Colorado and Biola University entering athletes in the Jim Click Combined Event Invite.  Results from the first day can be found above.
