Kornfeld Wins 100 Breast in Montreal

MONTREAL-- Former Stanford All-American Paul Kornfeld earned a spot at the Pan Pacific Championships in August after winning the 100 breaststroke on Thursday at the Canadian Pan Pacific Trials.
Kornfeld, who had the fifth-fastest preliminary time (1:03.81), led the field with a mark of 1:02.48 in the finals. The 22-year old will also compete in the 50 and 200 breaststrokes over the five-day championship which just finished off its second day.
Current Stanford freshman Matthew Swanston finished third in the 50-meter backstroke with a mark of 26.64. Swanston will also swim in the 200 backstroke, while teammate Michael Zoldos will also swim in the 400-meter freestyle.
The championships will be held in Irvine, Calif. from August 18-22 with swim teams from Canada, the United States, Japan and Australia.
