A Trio Of Huskies Named To Pac-10 All-Academic Team

April 1, 2010

SEATTLE - Sami Whitcomb, Kristi Kingma and Sarah Morton were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team, an honor announced by Commissioner Larry Scott on Thursday morning.

The three Huskies were honorable mention selections to the team. For Whitcomb, a History major with a 3.3 GPA at Washington, this was her third such selection to the All-Academic team. The senior graduated two quarters earlier than normal from UW.

It was the second overall for Morton and the first for Kingma, who is a communications major.

For head coach Tia Jackson, this was pleasing news after witnessing first-hand the dedication her players made to their classroom responsibilities.

'Can't say enough how pleased I am with the effort that Morty, Kristi and Sami gave in the classroom,' Jackson said. 'As a team we pride ourselves on being the complete student-athlete and I am extremely delighted that their hard work has awarded them this All Academic Pac-10 recognition.'

In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.0 GPA or above and be a starter or significant contributor to her team.
