April 5, 2010
STANFORD, Calif. - Senior outfielder Alissa Haber has been selected as the Pac-10 Player of the Week for Mar. 29 - Apr. 4, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday. This is the second career weekly accolade for Haber and the 47th honor overall for the Cardinal.
Haber, a native of Newark, Calif., led the Cardinal to a 2-1 series victory over Bay Area rival California. She led the team with a .455 batting average for the weekend, tallying five hits, including two doubles, and two RBI.
In the Pac-10 opener for both teams, Haber recorded two of Stanford's five hits as the Cardinal went on to win 1-0 in 12 innings. In the second game of the series on Friday, Apr. 2, she was 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the secondinning to give the Cardinal a 2-0 lead which it never relinquished, going on to win the game 5-1. She also tallied two hits, including a double, in the series finale on Saturday.
For the weekend, Haber had an on-base percentage of .538 and a slugging percentage of .636. She was also the only Cardinal player to record at least one hit in each game of the series. She also registered two stolen bases. On the season, Haber leads the team with a .480 batting average.
Haber is the second Cardinal player to be recognized by the conference this season. Freshman Teagan Gerhart earned Pitcher of the Week honors on Mar. 22, after throwing three straight no-hitters, including her first career perfect game.
Stanford returns to action on Tuesday, Apr. 6, as it hosts the UC Davis Aggies at 6 p.m. at Smith Family Stadium. The Cardinal will continue Pac-10 play on the road this week as it travels to Oregon State for a three-game series with the Beavers, Apr. 9-11.
