Aronsson Leads UW At ASU
April 11, 2010
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Molly Aronsson shot an even-par 72 in the final round of the PING/ASU Invitational on Sunday to notch her second top-10 finish of the season. Aronsson, a senior from Shelburne, Vt., was 3-under 213 overall (71-70-72) and tied for ninth. She was six strokes behind winner Stephanie Kono of UCLA who was -6 on the day and 9-under overall.
Needless to say, Husky coach Mary Lou Mulflur was very pleased with her senior leader's play this weekend. 'I'm very happy for her,' she would say. 'She played with a lot of confidence and has really got things figured out right now. She has worked really hard to improve her game and deserves all her success right now. If we just get everyone else turned around, we'd be in good shape.'
The Huskies were collectively +49 (302-300-311=913) and finished 16th out of 17 teams. No other Huskies besides Aronsson finished better than Anya Alvarez's +11 (227) overall. Alvarez began the day in 32nd place but shot a +8 (80) on the day and tied for 57th.
Sadena Parks had the second-best round of the day - a 5-over-par 77. She ended up +24 overall for the tournament and in 82nd place. Karinn Dickinson and Darcie Richmond were each 10-over for Sunday's round and finished tied for 85th.
Up next for the Huskies is the Pac-10 Championships, being held Monday, April 19 through Wednesday, April 21 at Eugene Country Club.
