Elston Turner Elects To Transfer From Washington

April 15, 2010

SEATTLE - Husky sophomore Elston Turner has decided to transfer from the University of Washington basketball program, head coach Lorenzo Romar announced on Thursday. Turner played in 66 games over two seasons and averaged 4.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and hit 66 three-pointers.

Turner approached coach Romar earlier this week to inform him of his decision. 'Elston Turner has done a nice job for us. We will miss him but we certainly wish him well and support him in whatever he decides to do.'

Turner was an integral part of this past year's Husky team that went 26-10, won the Pac-10 Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. He played in all 36 games, averaging 5.5 points and 1.9 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game. He led the team in three-point shooting at 38% and was second among Huskies with 41 makes and 108 attempts.

The sharp-shooter is a graduate of Elkins HS in Missouri City, Texas and is the son of former NBA standout and current Houston Rockets assistant coach, Elston Turner Sr.
