April 16, 2010
The No. 17 California Golden Bear women's golf team will compete at the 24th Annual 2010 Pacific-10 Conference Women's Golf Championships April 19-21 (Monday through Wednesday) at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
The Bears, like most of the teams in the field, are coming into the event fresh off the PING/ASU Invitational. Joanne Lee was the top Bear finisher at the event. Lee comes into the Pac-10's ranked No. 22 in the latest Golfweek individual rankings. She is one of ten Pac-10 players ranked in the top-25. Six of the ten Pac-10 schools are also ranked in the top-25 in the team standings.
The event will be played at the Par 72, 6,203 yard Eugene Country Club. This is the third time that the Pac-10 Championships have been held at the course, most recently in 2000 and also in 1991.
Last season, Cal finished fifth at the Pac-10 Championships, which were held at the Stanford Golf Course. Pia Halbig was the top finisher, finishing in eighth place among individuals.
The Bears won the team title in 2003 and were second in 2004. The Bears have had one individual medalist at the Pac-10 Championships, Vikki Laing in 2003.
