Bruins Finish Second at Pac-10 Championships

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team finished second at the 24th Pac-10 Championship Wednesday at the Eugene Country Club, hosted by the University of Oregon.
UCLA's runner-up result was its ninth consecutive podium finish under coach Carrie Forsyth.
The Bruins posted a final round score of 294 (+6) for a 54-hole total of 881 (+17). Seventh ranked Arizona posted the best score of the day for the second straight round, recording an even par 288 for a final total of 878 (+14). In third place was host Oregon at 869 (+25), followed by fourth place USC at 891 (+27). Washington finished fifth at 906 (+42), Cal took sixth at 909 (+45) and Stanford place seventh at 928 (+64). Washington State was eighth at 965 (+101) and Oregon State was ninth at 967 (+103).
Arizona State, the first round leader, lost two of its players to illness prior to the second round and was unable to field a five-player team for the final 36 holes.
Freshman Tiffany Lua was the Bruins' top finisher, tying for third place at 219 (+3) after posting a final round score of 74 (+2). Sophomore Stephanie Kono tied for eighth at 220 (+4) after carding a score of 77 (+5) on Wednesday. Junior Glory Yang posted the team's best score -- a one-under par 71 -- and moved up the leader board eight spots, tying for 10th place at 221 (+5). Senior Sydnee Michaels tied for 18th place at 225 (+9) after signing for a 75 (+3) and sophomore Brianna Do tied for 21st at 226 (+10) following a round of 74 (+2).
Arizona State's Carlota Ciganda and Juliana Murcia were co-medalists at two-under par 214.
