STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Sally Watson has been selected to represent Great Britain & Ireland in the 36th Curtis Cup matches, to be held at the Essex Country Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass., June 11-13.
This will be Watson's second Curtis Cup appearance, as she was part of the GB&I team that dropped a 13-7 decision to the United States' squad at St. Andrews. A native of Earlsferry, Scotland, Watson will be joined on the team by Hannah Barwood, Holly Clyburn and Rachel Jennings of England, Leona Maguire, Lisa Maguire and Danielle McVeigh of Ireland and fellow Scot Pamela Pretswell.
Mary McKenna of the Donabate Golf Club in Ireland will captain the GB&I team. McKenna played in nine Curtis Cup matches between 1970 and 1986 and is considered the most successful GB&I player in the history of the event.
The United States has won the last six Curtis Cups, with GB&I's last victory coming in 1996 at Killarney.
