Stanford Seeded Sixth in NCAA West Regional

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford's women's golf team will be the sixth seed in the NCAA West Regional to be held at Stanford Golf Course, May 6-8.

Top-ranked UCLA earned the top seed, followed Southeastern Conference champion Alabama, Pac-10 Conference champion Arizona, Ohio State and Virginia.

Big 12 Conference champion Texas A&M and Big West Conference champion UC Davis are seeded ninth and 11th, respectively.

California, which earned the eighth seeded, is one of four Pac-10 teams in the West Regional, along with UCLA, Arizona and Stanford.

Duke earned the top-seed in the East Regional, to be played at the Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, NC, while Arizona State is the top-seed at the Central Regional, to be contested at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind.

The top eight teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, to be held May 18-21 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, NC.

Stanford, ranked 17th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Ratings Index, is coming off a seventh place finish at the Pac-10 Championships held last week at the Eugene (Ore.) Country Club.
