USC-UCLA Dual Meet Week Kicks Off With Hall Of Fame Luncheon

The second annual USC-UCLA Dual Meet Hall of Fame Inductees were honored today (April 27) at a luncheon in the Hall of Fame Room at the J.D. Morgan Center on the campus of UCLA in Westwood, Calif. The luncheon serves to promote the most historic track and field dual meet in the country between crosstown rivals USC and UCLA which will be held on May 1 in Westwood, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The second class of Dual Meet Hall of Fame inductees were Earl McCullough (USC), Louie Zamperini (USC), Lesley Noll (USC), Bryan Krill (USC), Mike Tully (UCLA), Joanna Hayes (UCLA), Chelsea Johnson (UCLA), Steve Lewis (UCLA) and Dave Laut (UCLA).
Notes on the meet:
TROJANS READY TO DUEL WITH BRUINS - USC and UCLA will lock horns in the most prestigious and storied Dual Meet in the country on May 1 at Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus. The USC men's team leads the all-time series 41-35, while the USC women's team trails 5-21. Last season USC swept the meet for the first time since the women began competing in 1984 with the men winning 92-71 and the women winning 93-70. USC's men's team has won two of the last three Dual Meets and the women's team has won two straight for the second time in meet history.
2009 DUAL MEET HIGHLIGHTS - Zsofia Erdelyi won the first race of the day, the women's 5000m, then came back to clinch the meet for the women by winning the 1500m race. She was the only Trojan to post two individual wins, but the women's team led wire to wire as they started with an 8-1 lead after the hammer competition, won by Eva Orban. The men's team clinched the meet with a win in the 4x400m relay by Jason Price, Nate Anderson, Joey Hughes and Duane Walker. Corey White put the men's team ahead for good by winning the javelin with a meet record throw of 262-6. Matthew Palmer also added a key win for the men's team in the 100m dash after Trojan All-American Ahmad Rashad had false started.
