April 30, 2010
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 20 Oregon State men's rowing team returns to action this weekend as the squad will split to race against Stanford in California and participate in the Windermere Cup Regatta in Washington.
The varsity 8+ will be travelling to Redwood Shores, Calif., to race No. 6 Stanford at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
'We're looking forward to racing one of our Pac-10 rivals,' head coach Steve Todd said. 'The goal this week is to learn from last weekend, race well, and get ourselves in a position to perform our best at the Pac-10 Championships in two weeks.'
The JV 8+ and both freshman 8+ crews are heading to Washington to race in the Windermere Cup Regatta. Both freshman teams race at 11:05 a.m., while the second varsity will race in the Erickson Cascade Cup at 11:20 a.m.
'It will be exciting for our younger guys to race up there,' Todd said. 'Nowhere else in rowing do thousands of fans line the race course rain or shine.'
After this weekend's races, the Beavers won't compete again until May 16 in the Pac-10 Championships.
