No. 18 Cal Baseball Wins, 7-3, at Sacramento State

The No. 18-ranked (Collegiate Baseball) Cal baseball team scored five runs in the first three innings and cruised to a 7-3 victory Tuesday (May 4) at Sacramento State's Hornet Field. The Golden Bears (27-15) won their fourth game in a row after a four-run third inning gave them a 5-0 lead. Junior second baseman Brian Guinn led Cal with three hits, including a double, and sophomore shortstop Marcus Semien was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
The winning pitcher for the Bears was junior right-hander Kevin Miller (3-2, 2.1 innings, one hit, no runs, two strikeouts), who replaced senior left-hander Chris Petrini (4.2 innings, five hits, three runs, three walks, three strikeouts) in the fifth inning. Sophomore right-hander Matt Flemer earned his team-high fourth save of the year, throwing the final two innings (one hit, no runs, one strikeout).
