Tennis Player Hein Earns At Large Bid to NCAA Singles Championship

Micaela Hein of the Arizona State women's tennis team has earned an at large bid to the 2010 NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championships. This will be Hein's second straight appearance at the NCAA Individual Championships. The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 26-31 at Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

Hein, a junior communications major, emerged as the Sun Devils' No. 1 singles player in the middle of the team's dual season. She earned victories over several highly ranked players including Pac-10 Player of the Year and No. 6 ranked Yasmin Schnack, No. 34 Mallory Burdette and No. 38 McCall Jones. Hein, who earned Second-Team All-Pac-10 honors this season is currently ranked 50th.

Hein earned All-American status in doubles with partner Kelcy McKenna last season. This will be the first time Hein competes in singles at the NCAA Individual Championship.
