WILMINGTON, N.C. - Sophomore Isabelle Boineau shot a 1-under par round of 71 to help #7-ranked Arizona move into 5th place after the third day of the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships, Thursday afternoon at the Country Club of Landfall.
Following rounds of 75 and 76, respectively, to open the tournament, Boineau shot her best round since matching a 1-under total carded at the Stanford Women's Intercollegiate in October. She fired three-straight birdies on holes 6-8 after suffering through three-consecutive bogeys on the 2nd through 4th holes to bring her back to 1-under after opening her round with a birdie. An even-par 36 on the back nine helped her improve to 6-over par after 54 holes.
Junior Alejandra Llaneza shot her second-straight even-par round of 72 to remain at 7-over for the tournament. She battled back from back-to-back bogeys on the 5th and 6th holes to birdie the 7th, then added a birdie on the 11th hole while scoring par on the remaining 14 holes.
Sophomore Margarita Ramos tallied her first over-par round of the tournament at 2-over par 74, but still stayed in the top 10 of the individual leaderboard in 6th place at 2-under par. A birdie on the 14th hole put Ramos at even par for the day, but she suffered a double-bogey on the 16th hole before finishing with back-to-back pars.
Sherlyn Popelka and Nikki Koller are both 8-over par through three days of play. Popelka shot 76 on Thursday while Koller matched her opening day total of 77. Jennifer Johnson of Arizona State holds the individual lead at 9-under par, one shot better than Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State.
Purdue posted the lowest single-day team total at 8-under 280 and sits atop the team leaderboard at 6-under par. The Wildcats are 11-over par, four shots back of Arizona State and Alabama for third place.
The Wildcats will be paired with the Crimson Tide and Vanderbilt for the final day of play with Popelka leading Arizona to the 1st tee at 12:30 p.m. (ET)
