LOS ANGELES - Brandon Garcia (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman HS) allowed one run on three hits in 7 2/3 innings Tuesday as the USC Trojans beat the No. 23 UC Irvine Anteaters, 8-1, in non-conference action at Dedeaux Field. Garcia, who made just his second start on the season, struck out six batters while walking four to improve to 2-3 on the season.

Ricky Oropesa was 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI for USC (26-31), who swept the two-game season series against UC Irvine (34-19). Alex Glenn and Cade Kreuter had two RBI each for the Trojans.

Casey Stevenson scored on Francis Larson's single in the fourth as UCI took the 1-0 lead, but USC answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Nick Hoover walked Kreuter with two outs and Andy Lines (1-1) followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases. Glenn then hit a two-run single to center, followed by Garret Houts' RBI single for the 3-1 Trojan advantage.

The Trojans added a run in the seventh and took advantage of two UCI errors on the same play in the eighth to score four runs (three unearned) to close out the scoring.
